If any earthly institution or custom conflicts with God's will, it is your Christian duty to oppose it... You must be willing to challenge unjust mores, to champion unpopular causes, to buck the status quo. You are called to be the salt of the earth. You are to be the light of the world. You are to be that vitally active leaven in the lump of the nation.

Hallelu, Hallelujah
Father, let your kingdom come (x4)
May the works of my hands bring you joy (x4)
Hallelu, Hallelujah
Father, let your kingdom come (x4)
May the words of my mouth speak your peace (x4)
Hallelu, Hallelujah
Father, let your kingdom come (x4)
You make all things new
You make all things new
In places we don’t choose
You make all things new
Hallelu, Hallelujah
Father, let your kingdom come (x4)
Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth! (Psalm 8)

music: Star of the County Down (Irish trad.)
My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great
And my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the one who waits
You fixed your sight on your servant's plight and my weakness you did not spurn
So from east to west shall my name be blest; could the world be about to turn?
refrain:
My heart shall sing of the day you bring
Let the fires of your justice burn
Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near
and the world is about to turn
Though I am small, my God, my all, you work great things in me
And your mercy will last from the depths of the past to the end of the age to be
Your very name puts the proud to shame and those who would for you yearn
You will show your might, put the strong to flight; for the world is about to turn
refrain
From the halls of power to the fortress tower, not a stone will be left on stone
Let the king beware for your justice tears every tyrant from his throne
The hungry poor shall weep no more for the food they can never earn
There are tables spread, ev'ry mouth be fed for the world is about to turn
refrain
Though the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast
God's mercy must deliver us from the conqueror's crushing grasp
This saving word that our forbears heard is the promise that holds us bound
Til the spear and rod be crushed by God / who is turning the world around
refrain
In the life and teaching of Jesus, we come to see most clearly that God is three in one— Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As God's creatures, we are created to share in the mutuality and love found in the Trinity and to extend it to all creation.
Before a perfectly loving God, we are vain, petty, selfish,
and we know we need mercy.
Let’s ask the Lord to open our eyes to see the sin, indifference,
prejudice, and self-centeredness in our lives:
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Take a moment now to acknowledge these things silently before the Lord, knowing forgiveness and rest are freely available in Jesus.
The Holy Spirit works to continuously show us that Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection accomplished the reconciling work that we could never accomplish.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us (Romans 5:1-5).
Know that you are forgiven, and be at peace. Thanks be to God.
All Souls Kids is taking a break this week and will be back next Sunday! In the meantime, feel free to play back one of our previous weeks' videos.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
In lieu of prayers this week, a few members of our community have taken the time to share their voices and experiences. Please enjoy this opportunity to hear their reflections on who they have needed God to be to them since the pandemic began and how God has been present in their lives over these past weeks and months.

words: Psalm 62; “My Soul is At Rest” Taizé Community, 1984
music: Evan Wilson, 2019
O how long will death and violence rise against the weak and poor?
Their mouths bless, but in their hearts they curse and take delight in lies
Yes, my soul find rest in God for my hope comes from him alone
God most high is my salvation, he alone is my refuge
refrain:
My soul is at rest in God alone
My salvation comes from God
All the lowborn are a whisper and the highborn but a lie
Weighed upon a balance, they are nothing, lighter than a breath
Do not trust oppression or place your vain hope in stolen goods
Set not your heart upon riches; God will be your great reward
refrain
One thing God has spoken, and two things have I heard from the Lord:
Pow’r belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love
Trust in him at all times, people; pour out your hearts unto him
God is our rock and salvation; truly, God is our refuge
refrain
All we have is given to us by God. Our offerings express this joyful dependence as well as our commitment to join God in his work of renewal. He who met our most dire need through Christ will continue to provide for every need we have— so, whether we have much or little, God calls us to treasure and trust Him above all.
All gifts go toward ministry initiatives of All Souls and relief of those in need.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-25).
Amen.
Let us go forth and serve our world as those who love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God!
