6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Lord, you come to us, but we do not recognize you;
you call, but we do not follow;
you command, but we do not obey,
you bless us, but we do not thank you.
Lord, have mercy.

Lord, you accept us, but we do not accept others;
you forgive us, but we do not forgive those who wrong us;
you love us, but we do not love our neighbors.
Christ, have mercy.

Lord, you showed us how to carry out your mission,
but we still insist on our own;
you suffered and died for the sake of all,
but we have made others suffer for our selfish gain.

Have mercy on us, Lord.
We ask you to heal, forgive, and restore us
as we embrace your promises in Jesus.


Take a moment now to acknowledge these things silently before the Lord, knowing forgiveness and rest are freely available in Jesus.

Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ,

and Christ died for us,
Christ rose for us,
Christ reigns in power for us,
Christ prays for us.

Hear and know that you are forgiven and be at peace.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.


For the church of Christ around the globe,
that we would learn what it means to be one,
as you, Lord, along with the Father and the Holy Spirit, are One.

For the church of Christ in Seattle,
that we would grow in unity with one another,
seeking to understand more than to be understood.

For your church scattered during this time
across the neighborhoods and industries of our city,
that our lives of love and service would bear witness to an alternative story.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For all of us who continue to live in the tension of power and race in America,
that we would, in humility, open our eyes to our cultural biases
and seek the flourishing of those different from us.

Guide us to become advocates for justice and equality.

For our local, state, and national leadership,
that they would be granted grace to lead with civility, justice, and peace,
and that you would protect their families
as they face the challenges attending these offices.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For the victims of oppression, genocide, enslavement, and abuse;
For those who must flee to find safety,
we pray for your comfort, for your present help;
we pray that acts of violence would be defied and brought to an end.

For all who are vulnerable,
we pray for just protection and merciful care
to break the systemic cycles of poverty and oppression.
For those who face social turmoil over free speech and religious conviction,
we pray for your peace to take root in hearts and lives.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For those who live on our streets,
we pray for relief, and for comfort.
May we, your people, humanize how we engage with our brothers and sisters
and know the grace of serving you, even as we serve them.

Lord, hear our prayer. Amen.

All we have is given to us by God. Our offerings express this joyful dependence as well as our commitment to join God in his work of renewal. He who met our most dire need through Christ will continue to provide for every need we have— so, whether we have much or little, God calls us to treasure and trust Him above all.
